Things should be much better for a while now. Sunspot 930 threw out four XRay-class flares (really major), a couple of which caused major geomagnetic storms, including one from Thursday through early Saturday. VHF and 10m operation was enhanced at times from various propagation modes, but the lower bands were pretty much killed. There were some magnificent Auroras reported (not here in the SF Bay area, though where there is LOTS of light pollution).

Things should be returning to normal very soon if not already.

Subject: [Elecraft] Bands In Sad Shape

What happened to the bands today? I hear almost nothing. I did hear, and work, ZF2AH this morning on 17m, but nothing else until this evening when I
called CQ on 7.055 and I got TI2RDP responding to my call.

I did notice the A index was at 70 this morning and has fallen to 10 at 0636
UTC.

I noticed the same thing on 40 and 80 meters past 2 nights (higher noise than usual and odd propagations). On 40 meters, I was hearing Eastern Asia stations (one appeared to be Chinese) from about 7.220 down to around 7.140 MHz.

Traditional regional stations were barely detectible --- almost non- existent.

I attribute this to the 0930 region events on Sun

We have had at least one "X" event every day since December 13

December 17 --- region 0930 is "setting to right" from Earth's vantage point
