I notice some versions of switching supplies (probably for Eu consumption) have an additional clamp-on ferrite on the output cable. Some supplies only have terminal posts, but it is a good idea to put a clamp-on ferrite on the cable right up to the terminal posts, ideally it should be in a metal box attached to the psu, but I haven't done that.

My Simlex is ok on the HF bands where I coax feed the antennas, but with the LF antenna wire coming right into the shack to the matching unit, I think noise gets in thro that route.

Hi Tim,
I use the Simplex America Model SEC 1223 on all the K2/K2100's I build
with no problems at all. Handles max current no problem and I have
yet to hear any hash generated by the supply in the K2 receiver.
Cheap, light weight and small foot print. It's a very good choice.

Subject: [Elecraft] K2's and switching power supplies

Hi folks -
I would like to know what experiences anyone has had using switching
power supplies within close proximity of a K2 or K2-100. I'm
considering building a fifth K2 (keep selling the dang things to
people that don't build) and am toying with the idea of making up a
portable module that would include a switching power supply. Thanks
in advance. 73/Tim NZ7C
