Mike,

My K2's AF gain is set at about 8 or 9 o'clock and is at a comfortable level for me. (My shack is a quiet room in the back of the house.)

Generally, though, I don't use the K2's speaker. I have a couple rigs and SWL radio whose external speaker outputs are hooked up to a little Behringer mixer board so that I can use a single external speaker in the shack. You might consider something similar if you have more than one radio. It's nice because you can set the rigs at a level comfortable when using the internal speaker in a stand alone set up but also set the mixer board levels so that all rigs sound more or less than same through the external speaker. Then you have a single slider to adjust all rig volume levels. It's a convenience, definitely not a necessity. But it's also not expensive so maybe food for thought.

I was wondering what position most K2 users set their AF gain control
for comfortable listening. My K2's AF gain must be set at about 1-2
o'clock to be able to hear anything. This is the same for internal
as well as for various external spkrs. Most of my other radios need
the gain only at about 9-10 o'clock for comfortable listening.

Thanks.
