Hello all, While pack packing in the cold weather this past weekend, I noticed that my "pimped-out" KX1 had dropped down to 2w power output after about a hour on the air. I thought it was due to the batteries and the cold - wrong!
Today I opened up my KX1 and checked each Li-ion battery with a voltmeter. One of the parallel banks had all three of the AA Li-ion 3.7v batteries reading 3.4V and the other bank 4.01V? I found that a connection on one of the battery holders had come apart and I lost one 11.8V battery bank! It came apart where the wire lug was crimped to the battery case on the + lead of one bank. Instead of having a 11.8V @ 1.5AH battery, I had a 11.8V @ 750MAH battery -hi!
