After using the non-ratcheted "crimper" I felt the same way. I finally went to the ratchet crimper marketed by West Mountain and have never had a failure. Miscrimps, yes, because with my limited close-up eyesight it's not that easy to make sure that the pin is in the slot properly (I work by feel). As we've all said - the proper tool.
