Good Evening,
Last night I got on 20 meters at 0330z. I worked RA4CQ on my second attempt. I do believe that is my furthest DX ever. I don't think I worked the dark side of the world but rather went westward through the lighted portion of the globe. Quite a hop to hit the Volga with 100 watts at the low point of the sunspot cycle. He was working stations for the next hour quickly and efficiently. Tomorrow we get to see how well 20 meters works for us. If it is this good it may be hard to make my signal land anywhere in North America though ;) We shall see. Life has grown more complicated once again. I need to decide on which career path is more fulfilling; not necessarily remunerative but best for me. Long hours and high pay are not always the best fit if the work is not enjoyable. There are three paths open right now. Which do I chose without regretting the choice in the future? I did get a chance to start soldering again -- not for pay but for fun. Hopefully I can get the stack of kits under control. It was nice to get on the air last night too. I am going to try to do more of that too. Not just the ECOM nets but a simple CQ or a search and pounce. A little DX before the pileup starts is nice. That way I get to know a little more about the op than QTH, name, and RST. Last night was good for many reasons: it tested my CW skills at over 30 wpm, he was a fair distance away, and it was an unscheduled whim of a contact. I just thought I would get on the air and did so. No fuss, worked some DX before the pileup and went on to my next task. It was nice to hear him in the background as I studied Horowitz and Hill.

   Tomorrow:

1) Call by geographic area (East, All)
2) Hail signs (first letter or two of the suffix of your call)
3) NCS help (as well as QSP/QNP <relay> help)

   Please join us:

Sunday 2300z (Sunday 4 PM PDT) 14050 kHz
Monday 0200z (Sunday 7 PM PDT) 7045 kHz

      Kevin. KD5ONS
