I believe that Wayne indicated that the LCD is transflective, so it
will be viewable with or without backlight.
Yes. In daylight/outdoor conditions you might want to use it with the
backlight off, and it will retain its high contrast. If you select
"DAY" mode for the LCD backlight, it automatically sets the LEDs to
their brightest setting.
