I should point out that nut drivers aren't really *required* either (my bad for putting them in that part of the list of tools). The nuts and screws do *not* need to be over-tightened! Indeed, you want to avoid that. You'll find many warnings not to over-tighten the nuts. We're building a radio, not a skyscraper!
Long nose pliers are fine for holding the nuts, and we may change the emphasis so those who don't have nut drivers handy will feel comfortable picking up their long-nose pliers. The place to be careful, as always, is in tightening nuts on the front panel. An crescent wrench (adjustable spanner) works fine, but it's easy to scratch the front panel with the wrench. And pliers are fine, but they can slip. Personally, I use a 1/2" socket and NO handle. As much torque as I could apply easily just holding the socket in my fingers is plenty. Feedback like this is great! Thanks and keep it coming! These should be available locally and would be much cheaper than obtaining them from the US. 73 -- David G4DMP Leeds, England, UK ------ _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
