Without any doubt the pipes produce those voluminous rousing tones, the cry to battle, and can sing like the whispering wind sighing in the glens. I am assuming that those who cannot deliver think of pipes as screeching cats.

I am going to get into trouble over this :-)

As a piper, I don't know if I should take exception to this suggestion...
For the sake of good reflector relations I'll assume that you are referring
to the voluminous, rousing tones of this ancient instrument and not to an
opinion that the bagpipe often sounds like a screeching cat. :-)
