Tom, you are a pilot but you are asking for a book about "Black Magic". !!! Much of this is subjective, it may be easier to write a book on "how to fly a triple seven and look good doing it". ;-) I am so appreciative that the K3 guys trusted the user to experiment with this, each user will now have his own "secret recipe" for hearing the impossible signal. Optimistically, few will achieve the inverse effect of not hearing a possible signal (before heading over to eHam to complain about the radio.) ;-) The most successful guys will be the ones that focus as much on their antennas as they do in the DSP. Much of what you read about Orion may apply to K3 with respect to AGC, I am eager to find out.
