Subject: Latest updater reported as Spyware
Hi Dave,
I had the same kind of problem, and I run Spy Sweeper version 4.7 with
automatic database updates. It reported that the installer was trying to
add software infected with the "give4free" adware. I allowed the install
to proceed anyway, and then had Windoz XP blue-screen on me during
the DSP1 firmware upload, rendering the K3 unusable. Talk about panic!
After some back & forths with Gary, I remembered that I had plugged the
USB adapter into my Belkin USB hub, and that arrangement does not
always work out well, so I moved the USB connection to a port on the
front of the PC. After that I was able to upload firmware without any
trouble, and have decided that the warning from Spy Sweeper is bogus
and had no bearing on my other troubles.
I now think there's just something about the byte sequence in the new
updater that fools Spy Sweeper into thinking it's that adware. It's an
annoyance I
can live with for now....
