Hi All, I am planning on buying a K3 in the near future and
just have a couple of questions, is the reciever in the radio
have the same specs as the optional sub reciever with the
exception of the BC coverage of the sub? I really don't care
about recieving the BC stuff and from what I can see the
reciever in the rig should do just fine as long as I can
switch sepatate antennas between the transmit and recieve
with reciever protection.
I would appreciate any input you can give me. I hope I have
made my Q clear enough.
The two receivers (main K3 receiver and optional KRX3 second receiver) are
identical and neither one has good "BC coverage" by itself. If you want
good reception outside the Ham bands, add the KBPF3 to either or both
receivers.
What do you mean by "switch sepatate antennas between the transmit and
recieve with reciever protection."? The basic K3 has one antenna port.
It
is used for both RX and TX with the receiver protected during TX. If you
want to switch the receiver(s) between a dedicated RX-only antenna and the
TX antenna, add the KXV3. If you want to switch both the transmitter and
receiver between two antennas, add the KAT3.
But one should not hope for real duplex as I understand. Second RX input is
grounded during transmit.
Even when TX and RX are using separate antennas and are on different bands.
