I have an early Proset that did fall apart. The ball joint connection was a bit weak. This has been corrected in the newer Prosets. You can purchase two new glass reinforced replacement inner supports for $3 each and a new cord for $8. I consider this very reasonable. If you ever run across a broken Proset cheap, I recommend buying it and doing the repairs yourself. Even the speaker elements are only $4 each. See: http://www.heilsound.com/amateur/products/parts/

My vote is for the standard Proset with the HC5 element.

The standard Pro-Set only has a life expectancy of about 1 year in my shack
before they tend to fall apart! >
