The WinKey in the microKeyer is an earlier version. The current version of the WinKey chip (WinKey 2) has much better stand-alone features. The microKeyer is not intended for stand-alone use, so it doesn't need these features. WinKey 2 is documented at <http://k1el.tripod.com/WinkeyUSBman.pdf> (turn to p. 18 for the stand-alone features).
