I had an email answer from an engineer at SGC within an hour of
sending a question. I asked if the MC68HC711E9 in my new SG-231
tuner was copy protected. SGC could have put critical code in the
EEROM, which can be erased when the processor enters bootstrap mode.
I have four E9s in my junkbox and now I have a backup E9 in case
the original dies.
