I've finally gotten it together to hook this up. The RE Standard has a CAT port, which is configurable to RS232, but without DTR and RTS, so I used the extra serial port (which does have those lines) for the connection to the K3, and used the CAT port with a cable to the rotator control, which only needs TXD and RXD. Since these ports look like standard COM ports to the computer, no problem.
I have now downloaded the firmware to the K3 using the RE serial port, and MixW seems to work fine, although I have misplaced my stash of 15-pin HD connectors, so haven't gotten FSK hooked up yet. And on that issue, there was some talk of being able to reconfigure the firmare so that DTR could be the FSK input when in DATA mode. I've not been keeping up thoroughly- has this happened? I can't find a mention of this feature.
