The socket below the VFO dial is for an In-Circuit Debugger (ICD), used for development and diagnostic purposes.
The RS-232 connector's DTR and RTS may be used for PTT and CW keying. See "PTT and Keying" on page 18 of the K3 Owner's reference manual.
