I tried that. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. Rotating VFO A causes the large capital A in the upper right corner of the monitor to change to a lower case b but the message at the bottom does not change from IAM B. I've made the change then exited the menu but when I re-enter the large capital A is back and the message still says IAM B. I must be going something wrong but I don't know what it is?

I can't help with your sidetone issue - be certain the pitch is set for your best hearing. It may that the default pitch of 600 Hz does not match the sweet spot for your ears.
