Of course, you could always update Windows to ubuntu.

If and when the four major programs that I depend on daily (WordPerfect, Thunderbird, Firefox and Folio Bound VIEWS - my communications law legal research database engine - come out with 100% Linux native versions (WINE won't handle the database program and I didn't try it on the others) I will consider going back to Linux (I ran Red Hat for a while).

Heck, before I went to Windows I ran IBM's OS/2 and its derivative eComStation - which ran DOS and Win3 programs as well as native OS/2 programs - for many years until Folio dropped the 16-bit (Win3) support and more and more applications required "real" 32-bit support.

My ham stuff runs in a separate machine (running Win 2000 at present) so I can play with that without messing up my "main" machine.

I've ranted about this for years, so I'll get down from my soapbox and behave.....
