It's a TAP or HOLD switch (all four of those knobs there do that) and in this case you should be HOLDing it - just long enough until both CMP & PWR leds go out. You don't have to hold it while you turn (as opposed to some of the filter functionality introduced later where you HOLD & TURN at the same time).

Wow! It never occurred to me to keep it pushed in. And I couldn't figure out whether to use Pwr or Cmp...doh!!!!
