There is a CONFIG value that adjusts overall AF gain - its called AF GAIN and can be set to Lo or Hi - but this just affects the overall range of all af gain (and side tone I think), I found the default of Lo was to low and set mine to Hi.

However, as someone else posted, to 'adjust' side tone etc, use the MON control. HOLD the cmp/pwr/mon knob (bottom right of the 4 to the left of the main VFO knob). When you do this, niether the CMP or PWR LED will be lit and the VFO B display will show MON nn, where nn is a numeric value representing the monitor volume level. Then turn to adjust the level. Just press any button or knob to go back to normal function of CMP/PWR (which you can switch between with a TAP of the knob)

Finding items in the menus :
Both menus show the options in alphabetical order, and remember the last menu you were on until you turn the power off.
The MAIN menu always comes up on LCD BRT and the CONFIG menu on FW REVS

I am still having trouble with the rather low audio level of the side tone and spot tone in the CW mode on my new K-3. The other day I received an e-mail from a list member who suggested that those levels could be adjusted by using a config menu entry which specifically controlled and adjusted the side tone level. Try as I might I have yet to locate that entry. That may
be because I am not very good at finding such things for some unknown
reason. I have now installed version 1.96b firmware.

Does anybody know how I can adjust the audio level of both the side tone and
spot tone? Eager ears are waiting to know.
