Good Evening,
Twenty meters seems active today. I am casually contesting getting my gear
in order for more mundane events. WinKey acts as liaison between N1MM and the
rig. Seems like cheating compared to the many times I have logged on paper.
Poke, poke, poke, next. But I do not have the competitive spirit. I get bored
and wander off to do my dishes and laundry. The nice day has been rather
distracting too! It went from chilly and wet to warm and humid. I was
awakened by a red glow on the horizon and then about an hour later by the sun.
It is currently a little hazy. May be all the biting flies gathered over my
house.
But the bands are open and the sun has tossed a few ions into our Earth's
field. Propagation has been fair to good all week. Today the extra input by
all these contesters is causing the propagation to improve. I don't think we
can equal the sun in its intensity but there are so many folks on the air it
seems to have an effect. I need to check 40 meters to see how it is working.
All of my activity (and practice with the software) has been limited to twenty
meters. It's pretty cool to see the calls show up on the band chart as you
work them. There are so many bells and whistles in N1MM I'll never learn them
all!
Please join us tomorrow evening.
