Steve,
The K1 4 band board has only 2 low pass filters, so the band
combinations are limited. 40 and 30 meters can share the same low pass,
and 20, 17 and 15 can also share a low pass filter - so with the 4 band
board, it is 40 and 30 meters plus your choice of 2 bands from the 20,
17, 15 meter combination.
The K1 can remember settings for 6 bands, so you can use the 2 band
board to fill in any gaps that your 4 band board does not cover. If you
have the same band on both boards, it will work, but the operating
frequency calibration setting will only be remembered for one of them,
so it is best to have the 2 band board setup for bands not covered with
the 4 band board.
Band kits for the 2 band board are available from Elecraft, so you can
change the bands covered, you are not slaved to the bands currently
installed on that board.
