Steve,
I have used ChipQuik too. It makes getting those multi-legged critters
off a lot easier.
You are correct that the resoldering part can be more difficult. One
must use alcohol to completely clean the area where the chip was removed
or the new solder just will not stick. Put some elbow grease into it
and scrub completely. Even if things look clean, there can still be
enough residual to make re-soldering difficult.

Their solder melts at 135 degrees F., mixes with the original solder
and makes chip removal much easier. Resoldering is the touchy part! 73
