I understand that would be very difficult to do. The auto notch looks for an unmodulated carrier to attack and so it leaves amplitude modulated SSB signals alone. But a CW signal is really a carrier modulated by duration but not by amplitude and so the auto notch would have a hard time knowing to leave the CW signal alone - - in other words it probably would think it is a carrier and do its thing and then poof - - - there goes the QSO. With the narrow bandwidth useable for CW I've rarely been troubled by adjacent carriers - - they are just not in the pass band. And if a carrier does appear right on the CW station's frequency I don't think much could be done about that anyway. But a manual notch allows you to carefully sneak up on the offending signal in a much more careful way and if the carrier is slightly off the CW signal sometimes you can do the job that way. Sometimes the human brain works better than the best automated system I think.

Thanks! I did not realize that. Maybe is it possible in the future to have it also in cw, a TAP to lock a carrier and then put the value in MANUAL. 73 's Steef ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Zeph" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'Steef PA2A'" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, July 10, 2008 8:03 AM Subject: RE: [Elecraft] k3 firmware update. > Auto-Notch only works in SSB.
