I agree Mike. CWT (like most functions, in my humble, but not popular,
opinion) should be completely independent of everything else. If CWT is
enabled, it should stay enabled until it is changed by the operator, just as
though it was controlled by a mechanical toggle switch on the front panel. 

(Indeed, I guess that's my 'problem'. I long for switches that, once set,
stay set like a wall switch. I get tired of switches that change state
because I did something else entirely like change bands, modes or cycle the
power ;-)

Quite so.  But the idea is that when coming back to CW from SSB if CWT was 
active it automatically returns to CWT.
