Morning, Don..... I had the same problem. I had not installed the clips properly in the connector. By this, I mean that I had not pushed the metal clips far enuff forward for them to "snap" into a locked position. Because of this, they would cause the connector to disengage with the slightest movement of the radio.
Look at the assy manual very carefully with the connector in hand. I believe you'll see this is your problem.
