Thank you for trying the new TX GATE feature.
However, when using the Noise Gate function, after quieting the back
ground noise, in between words I hear a crackling or static sound in the
headset. I haven't spoke with someone yet to know whether it is heard
on the air. I suppose it is not.
But it is annoying. Has anyone else had this to happen, and is there a
cure for it?
Increase the threshold further. Noise peaks are not uniform, and as you
increase the threshold you'll find that most of the noise stops but
occasional peaks still get through, resulting in the crackling you are
hearing.
Hear cracklies? Keep increasing the threshold! After they stop,
increase it a bit more.
Another possible approach: Listening on the MON function, find the
*highest* level you can use (where your voice starts to get chopped) and
then set the threshold about midway between that point and the point
where the crackling noise stopped.
