There should be no difference in the various mini-plugs as long as they are the 3.5mm type. If you are using a 2.5mm, it might work for a while, but will be loose in the jack and will not make good contact.

If you do have a 3.5mm plug and it is loosing contact, check to be certain the jacks protrude through the rear panel sufficiently. If the KIO3 module is not properly seated, the jacks will be recessed and will cause the problem you seem to be having.
