Be nice if someone who's learnt the hard way could list the oddities to look 
out for, ie DO THIS, DON'T DO THIS.

Yes, that was checked many times - I know it seems incredible! hi!  What saved me is there is only one set (of three) male/female spacers.  Sometimes all the tolerances all add up the wrong way - especially for me! hi!

Are you *sure* you fitted the correct hardware (standoffs etc)?  I have built 3 of these now and not had any issues with hardware etc.  It is easy to get the wrong sized standoff or to miss fitting a washer.
