Larry,
Check the Front Panel board carefully. Peer under the LCD display to
see if pin 1 is soldered on the U1 socket. If that pin is not soldered,
you will have a blank display.
Should that be the case, DO NOT remove the LCD - there is another way to
solder that pin!
With a knife or other tool, remove some of the plastic at the pin 1
location on the socket. Remove just enough so you can get the tip of
your soldering iron onto the socket pin and the solder pad on the top of
the board. Now you can heat the pin and solder pad from the top and
gingerly apply solder from the bottom under the LCD.

I have attempted to do the alignment and Test part 1 on page 43 of
the manual. Controls were set as indicated in the manual. When
power turning on the K-2 with S1, there is nothing on the display. It
does not read "INFO 201" or "7100c". Neither will it read "Elecraft"
for two seconds. The display always remains blank. It does pass the
relay test when tapping the "Band+" switch. I also hear the relay
click when the "PRE/ATTN" button is tapped.
Current drawn is about 125 ma from a 12.6 volt battery. Any help will
be appreciated.
Thanks.
Larry
