John, Either will work just fine, so unless your are overly concerned about the lead contribution to the environment when you finally send your K2 to the landfill (not many ham radio items go there), just install the DIP MC1350. The SMT1A is actually a surface mount MC1350 mounted on a carrier board - that part has become difficult to procure in the DIP package.
