The K3 is not an up-conversion design. With the exception that the second IF is digital and rather low, it is more like the double conversion amateur bands superhets that preceded the big commercial move to up-conversion. One other thing. I'm not clear whether people are really complaining about sensitivity, or whether they are actually complaining about gain. Sensitivity is about signal being louder than noise.
