I have read on this forum that the startup as shutdown settings are not saved 
unless you power down with the POWER button.  The K3 reverts to previous 
settings if shut down by powering down with the power supply.

I have not experimented with this, but could this be the problem?

Like a previous commenter, I don't think it a wise practice to operate at 120 
watts because the purity specs are not guaranteed above 100 watts.
