No No No! Leave the monitor going into speakers as it is. I use speakers 
socket on the rear panel for the headphones for referee in WRTC like 
competition. The referee supposed to be able to hear what I transmit. 
Frankly I do not understand all that feedback issue. There is feedback when 
the speaker is on. Then I turn SPKT+PH of with one of the programmable 
buttons and there is no feedback at all. Or do you mean that someone can 
keep monitor level so high that it find its way from the headphones into the 
mike? I don't believe it. I admit having some button to switch monitor off 
can be convenient if  one routinely uses speaker for RX and desk top 
microphone for TX. Having said that one is probably not contesting with such 
an arrangement and therefore has plenty of time to just turn the monitor 
volume down.
