I use speakers socket on the rear panel for the headphones for referee in WRTC like competition. The referee supposed to be able to hear what I transmit. Frankly I do not understand all that feedback issue. There is feedback when the speaker is on. Then I turn SPKT+PH of with one of the programmable buttons and there is no feedback at all. Or do you mean that someone can keep monitor level so high that it find its way from the headphones into the mike? I don't believe it. I admit having some button to switch monitor off can be convenient if one routinely uses speaker for RX and desk top microphone for TX. Having said that one is probably not contesting with such an arrangement and therefore has plenty of time to just turn the monitor volume down.
