Quote: Oh good grief... what is it about a dissenting opinion that gets people riled up in this group?
So I didn't like the knobs. I'm not the only one. The K3 is a damn good radio, and I've said that more than once. However, it isn't perfect. Nothing is. I felt like I had improved my K3 with the installation of those aftermarket knobs. To me, I'm a little happier using my radio now than before. And you know what? It still hears stuff... just with stronger knobs. I didn't realize that experimentation, improvisation, and the general spirit of amateur radio excluded knobs. I can't understand why one wouldn't want to have box that hears well and has a great tactile feel to boot... 73 de James K2QI Well the opinion above is what I would think is riled up, not the other comments to date. I personally don't have an issue with the K3 knobs, no failures here, I can understand some angst if they split, but, I myself would not replace them with a different set unless the entire set of knobs were made to look as though they came as a set and gave the appearance of belonging to the radio. But, to each his own...I never posted my thoughts on the pictures I saw of these replacement knobs, but, so you know the rest of the story....didn't like'em one bit, to me they looked out of place so I guess that puts me firmly on the list with the rest of us "riled up" owners...:-) Aaaahh, the wonders of Ham radio, the things we do instead turning on the radio and TRANSMITTING..... Oh, now where was I ????...oh yeah...CQ CQ cq cq dx........
