I believe that Wayne agrees with you. From what I've seen the power supply in the box is something that one can have or not. I think that it'll probably come as a kit and you'll be able to select what pieces you want.... This Elecraft after all! ;)
I'm in the same boat where all I want out of the P3 is the panadapter. I've got an Astron and a pair of speakers that keep me happy...
