This is indeed becoming more of an issue. I recently replaced my furnace with an American Standard 95% efficient model with a variable speed blower. I was concerned about the blower, since it uses a DC motor with electronic drive circuits. Of course there isn't a lot of information to be had about RFI on these kinds of appliances up-front. So I held my breath and crossed my fingers during the install. In this case, I can report good news - no detectable noise from the furnace from 160 thru 20 (only places I've checked). I could probably live with a noisy washer (I don't do laundry during contests ;>), but it is nice to have heat!
