I installed the K3IOBUFFKT in both of my K3s yesterday. I removed the 1K SMD chip very easily with two soldering irons. I don't think it is absolutely necessary to use two irons, however. Like another person said, I used a small jewelers screwdriver to hold down the new chip while tacking one end. The leaded resistor in this kit is also very usable because it is small enough to fit the SMD space very nicely and can easily be soldered to the feed-through hole on one side and the solder pad on the other.
