Hi Mike: I have a SUB RX so it is possible that my comments below might not fully apply if you don't have a SUB RX.
VFO A and B can be on separate modes. When you hold the A/B (1) button you'll see b SET on the top display. From there you can change modes, fiddle with filters, preamp, NR, etc.. The settings for VFO B can therefore be totally different than VFO A. Some things that you can't change will say N/A when you try to change them. However, if you want to avoid being in a different mode I would suggest pressing the A-B (3) button twice. The first press copies the frequency from A to B. The second press forces all of your selections in VFO B to mirror VFO A. I always do this before going into SPLIT. The annoying scenario I experienced before I learned to double press was when I was on CW and pressed split. I reached for my paddle but nothing transmitted. It turned out that VFO B was in the DATA mode. It took me a minute or two to figure out what was wrong. > Is it possible to have A and B VFO's on different modes?
