Thanks, Michael - Since I don't have the SUB RX, and B is always the xmit VFO, I'm not sure why B SET even works, except maybe for modes.
I had the same scenario as you, and it took me longer to figure out! I dunno how the mode got set differently on B. The double tap is a good tip.
