Hi Nick, I'm currently using my K2 QRP with the internal tuner and a few meters of wire strung out the window. It's connected directly to the K2 via a BNC-banana adapter like you do with your KX-1 and works OK for me, I even made a few 160m QSO-s. I also do have something like a dipole cut for 7 MHz that I feed with 2m of coax and tune this on 15m. Works really nice and the ability to switch two antennas is great, I only wish that you could assign one antenna output of the tuner as receive antenna (RANT).
