Different strokes, I guess. I really like the macros and the ability to
assign menu items to buttons.

Here's how I've got my K3 setup, and I really am happy with it.

M1T = AGC THR; M1H = AGC SLP
M2T = AGC DCY; M2H = AGC HLD
M3T = SPKR+PH; M3H = AF GAIN
M4T = LCD BRT; M4H =  LCD DIM  (Wayne's macro's)

PF1 = CW SPLT; PF2 = UNSPLT  (my macro's)

It all makes sense to me, and I use these macros and menu items frequently.
I did change my UNSPLT macro to include unlocking both VFO's:

UNSPLT  is now LK0;SWT11;LK0;SWT11;SWT13;FR0;RT0;XT0;

Although I am a CW operator, I almost always use my external microHam
CW Keyer with an auxiliary keypad, so I don't need M1-M4 for CW memories.
