In preparation for getting my K3 I think I might have to buy a new mic. I have the Icom desk mic for my Pro III and I also have the Heil Pro-Set Quiet Phone/Mic headset with the adapter for the Pro III.
So, do I need to buy a new mic or can I use these if I fashion together some kind of adapter so that the 8-pin plug connectors match up. If the Pro-set works with just a different adapter from Heil maybe I can go that route. If I were to purchase a new mic I presume that a Heil would be the way to go but any suggestions would be appreciated. Thus, three questions: 1. Is my Icom SM-20 desk mic usable albeit with a different Kenwood style adapter plug. 2. Is my Heil Pro-set usable with a Kenwood style adapter. 3.
