I have a Brother HL-2170W wireless laser printer in our office here: 2400/600 dpi on letter size paper, wireless 802.11b/g or wired (Ethernet) network interfaces, 32 Mb internal memory. Costs less than $150 new from most sources. Easy on toner. Fast. Been keeping pace with our needs - appx 200 sheets/week - for two years so far without a problem. For color work I have an HP Photosmart 3210 "All in one" Printer-Scanner-Copier. It replaced a 5-year old Epson that finally wore it's little gears to nubs.
The HP does an excellent job when color photographs or printing is needed, but I forgot to check on one important point when I bought it: the HP inks are *not* waterproof like the Epson inks. It's not a big issue for routine use, but you wouldn't want to address an envelope with it - not in the Northwest anyway ;-) But the Brother does 99% of the copy work.
