Rick, Thanks for that clarification on the supply voltage. Yes, in most cases, the K1 will hear better than the FT-817. You should be able to have 5 watts or more on 20 meters with that supply voltage. You said you made some improvement by squeezing the turns on the LPF, so the LPF may be your only problem. Re-count the turns on the 20 meter LPF toroids - count the number of times the wire passes through the center of the core.
