Hello, Werner! I would recommend a pair of macros, one to select the front panel microphone and another to select the rear panel microphone.
Each macro might need to "toggle" the high/low sensitivity settings and the bias. These aren't going to be "idempotent" macros. I don't have an SM-8, but I presume from your question that it requires bias. I don't know if it requires High or Low, but let's assume that it's different from the rear panel microphone. If H/L doesn't change, it's a little simpler. To shift to the back panel Proset with HC-4, you'll need to change the microphone from front to back, maybe change bias, maybe change the High/Low setting and perhaps set the microphone gain setting. You could extend this to change compression and/or VOX settings as well. You need to be in a voice mode for this to work (you can't change microphone settings while in CW, for example). MN053; opens the "MIC SEL" menu item. SWT11; will simulate a "tap" of the 1 button, which toggles between H and L settings. SWT12; will simulate a "tap" of the 2 button, which toggles between bias on and off. Rotating VFO A will shift between front panel, rear panel, and line in. You simulate that with the VFO A UP; or DN; commands. So the command sequence MN053;DN;DN;MN255; will switch to the Front Panel microphone (no matter where you started). MN053;DN;DN;UP;MN255; will switch to the Rear Panel microphone (no matter where you started). MN053;SWT11;SWT12;MN255; will toggle both high/low and bias on/off. MG is the microphone gain setting. First set the gain manually and then using the K3 Command Tester type "MG;" and it'll show you the current microphone gain, perhaps MG035; as the "current" setting. Do this for both microphones. Suppose the Heil Proset needs gain of MG050; and the SM-8 needs MG035; (I'm just making these up). Now one macro that switches to the front panel might be: MN053;DN;DN;SWT11;SWT12;MN255;MG035; This chooses the front panel microphone, taps the H/L and bias to change them, exits the menu, and changes microphone gain to 035. Another macro that chooses the rear panel microphone might be: MN053;DN;DN;UP;SWT11;SWT12;MN255;MG050; This chooses the rear panel microphone, taps H/L and bias to change them, and sets Microphone gain to 50. The only problem is that the bias and High/Low are "toggles"; their action depends on where you started. You might need to press the same macro button again if the wrong bias and/or H/L has been chosen. Does this help? 73 de Dick, K6KR -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dr. Werner Furlan Sent: Friday, January 08, 2010 1:34 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Elecraft] switch to another microphone using a macro? I have an Icom SM-8 microphone attached to my K3's front panel and a Heil Pro Headset with HC 4 element plugged into the rear panel. Depending on working conditions and my mood I sometimes prefer one or the other microphone. The procedure requires to change Bias and sensitivity in the microphone menu which takes quite a time. I'd like to create a makro so I can switch from one microphone to the other with a shortcut. I did not find the necessary commands. Is this possible at all? 73! de Werner OE9FWV -- Seen on a toilet wall:"HEISENBERG MAY HAVE BEEN HERE" Email powered by Pegasus Mail free at <http://www.pmail.com> Homepage: <http://www.qsl.net/oe9fwv/> Fone +43 5522 75013 Fax +43 5522 22505 Mobile +43 664 63 400 14 Elecraft K2 #5203 K3 #656 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
