You don't have to buy one to try it out. You can adjust the SHIFT/WIDTH controls to see what it sounds like. Having a narrow roofing filter pays off in a contest or other heavy operating conditions to keep something loud in the space between the roofing bandwidth and DSP bandwidth from pumping the hardware AGC.
