The following are fairly simple hardware mods (all easy to access on the RF board) which should bring a 1 year old unit up-to-date with current units (excluding the DSP audio upgrade): http://www.elecraft.com/K3/mods/IF_Output_Buffer_Gain_Mod_Rev_A.pdf http://www.elecraft.com/K3/mods/K3_vfo_noise_mod_Rev_C.pdf http://www.elecraft.com/K3/mods/K3%20rx%20protection%20mod,%20rev%20B.pdf All of these are on the RF Board and fairly easy to do. The first is needed only if he's using IF OUT for a panadapter. Of course it's not absolutely necessary to do any of these to be compatible with firmware changes (unless he tries to set CONFIG:VCO MD SPI=2 in the second mod above). You should also do the RF Gain Calibration in the K3 Utility and then recalibrate the S-Meter. I would recommend these even if you don't do the hardware mods above. 73, Bill -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/Big-firmware-upgrade-tp4547936p4550718.html Sent from the [K3] mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
