Graham, When in diversity receive, VFO A is the VFO for *both* the main and the sub. While in diversity, VFO B only serves as the transmit VFO if SPLIT is active. Tapping A>B is really a "no-op" step in diversity (unless SPLIT is on and you want to move the TX frequency to the RX frequency. See page 37 of the K3 manual.
